Orville (716), who was released with his brother Wilbur (696), is the most dominant of his pre-release cohort. We named him and his brother after another pair of siblings who mastered the art of flight – the Wright brothers. This is the first time two brothers have been released in the same cohort in Big Sur. He is often seen strutting and bossing around his peers. He was nicknamed "Moose" by the crew due to his massive size and regal stature. We had high hopes for this bird, and saw him quickly rising to the top of the wild hierarchy. Unfortunately, Orville (716) is currently missing and has not been detected by biologists since March of 2022.
