Wildlife of Big Sur
Ventana Wildlife Society chronicles the recovery of two iconic birds on the central coast, the California Condor and Bald Eagle, in this new exhibit. Celebrate the triumphs of a growing condor population where this critically-endangered species was once feared lost, and join the struggle in protecting condors from ongoing threats to self-sustainability. Featuring illustrations by wildlife artist, Jessica French, the display celebrates not only the eagles and condors but the wildlife of the major habitat types along the coast. A few minutes in the Discovery Center will be just the right preview for a walk on the scenic park trails, a drive down the famous Pacific Coast Highway in search of that 9.5-ft condor wingspan, or sampling the transcendent Big Sur experience.
