Marily was born and raised in Oakland, California. She is a first generation latina (Salvadorian/Mexican), pursuing a B.S in Biology and a minor in Environmental Science at California State University, Monterey Bay. Marily has a passion for conservation, restoration, and research and has conducted research at UC Santa Cruz studying the ecology of urban agriculture; primarily focusing on insect identification. As a bilingual researcher she conducted surveys with local farmers on there practices. Marily volunteered restoring the chaparrals, and oak forest here in Monterey County and conducted research on the affects of oak moths on our local oak forest and is also an artist at heart creating many art pieces for the city of Oakland. She is a member of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. inspiring latinas to peruse a higher education. With the help of Ventana Wildlife Society Marily hopes to inspire kids to pursue a career in the field of science.
