Fernanda grew up in Orange County, surrounded by concrete and the occasional trips to the beach. In her formative years, Fern knew she wanted to do anything to protect and help the environment. She loved being outside, learning what grew and lived in her backyard. While attending CSUMB, Fern majored in Marine Science before switching to Environmental Studies with a concentration in Education and Community Outreach. She is passionate about science communication along with conservation and preservation efforts and strives to leave everything better than how she found it. ​Fern is a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.
