Back to All Condor Bios
#915 “Artemis”
Sex: Female
Hatch Location & Date: San Diego Zoo, 4/3/2018
Release Date: San Simeon, December 11, 2019
Parents:  #85 and #497
Local Biological Siblings: #626 and #994
Breeding Status: Unpaired
Offspring: None
Artemis is named after the greek goddess of hunting and wild nature. She is also the patron saint of girls and young women, which seemed appropriate for this timid young bird. Artemis has a lot of name to grow into, but we love to root for an underdog! She is at the very bottom of the captive hierarchy, but she is gaining more confidence with time. She is the shyest member of her cohort, and is hesitant to join group activities, preferring to watch from afar. We hope that after her release Artemis will grow from a timid juvenile into the fierce goddess she is named after!
