This young condor has quite a lot to live up to- when #892 was born he made history by becoming the first chick of two wild-born California condors parents in the state since 1985. #892 is the first second-generation wild-born condor in decades! Because he was raised in an unstable redwood tree, biologists were unable to tag him before he left the nest. After several months flying free, biologist caught the young condor and drew blood to determine its gender and confirm its parentage. Turns out its a boy - welcome to the flock little guy!
The name Vincent seemed appropriate for this young fellow, as it is rooted in the Latin vincere which means "to conquer". Vincent has already conquered the skies of Big Sur in his first year, exploring the steep canyons and towering trees of his natal territory and beyond.
