Named after an owl in the Harry Potter series, Pigwidgeon (890) is a very excitable bird. In captivity, he sprinted around the release pen, jumping from perch to perch and running into a wall on more than one occasion. Pigwidgeon (890) was quite territorial in the release pen and attempted to rush any birds outside its walls. It did not matter if the visitors were curious turkey vultures or more mature condors coming to visit the "rookies". Pigwidgeon (890) let them know upon their arrival that they were encroaching upon HIS territory.
Pigwidgeon (890) has matured a bit since his early days in the flight pen, and quickly learned that picking fights without a flight pen between him and his opponent was not the best idea. While he can certainly hold his own against the other birds, Pigwidgeon (890) tends to stick to the fringes of the action at feeding sites and shows deference to more dominant birds. His quirky and lovable nature still shines through, and we’re glad that Pigwidgeon (890) has gained some street smarts, too!
