Cedric (888) is a very easy-going bird. His name is inspired by the charismatic Harry Potter character, Cedric, who is a Hufflepuff through and through. As his Hufflepuff nature suggests, he rarely gets into altercations with the others and prefers not to step on anyone’s toes. He’s a team player and always ready to join in the fun, whether it be feeding or soaking up the sun.
On June 5, 2021, Cedric (888) was captured by biologists at Pinnacles National Park where he was found to be suffering from lead poisoning. After receiving chelation treatment at Oakland Zoo, Cedric (888) was able to make a full recovery and was released back to the wild at the Big Sur Sanctuary on June 23, 2021.
Since then, Cedric (888) has worked hard to increase his rank in the central California flock hierarchy, and has teamed up with Condor (602), to accomplish this. Narcissa (889) has taken note of Cedric’s (888) recent rise in status, and biologists suspect the three birds will nest as a trio this year.
