Minerva (881) is named after the strong and authoritative deputy headmistress in the Harry Potter series. This bird takes no sass from the others and is not afraid to assert her authority. She was often seen perching next to Narcissa (889) while the two were awaiting their cohort’s release into the wild. Minerva is a talented flier, like her Harry Potter character counterpart. If there was condor Quidditch, she would be the star seeker.
In the wild, Minerva (881) behaves with the confidence of a condor that knows her worth but doesn’t like to stir-up unnecessary trouble. Now that she has reached breeding age, biologists are keeping a close eye on her and are eager to see which male(s) she may pair with. Unlike other condors, Minerva (881) takes a more secretive approach to her romantic dalliances, which means biologists have their work cut out for them! Most recently, she seems to have decided that Zephyr (631) and Condor 745 are worthy of her company, and often feeds with both males when she visits the Big Sur Sanctuary.
