Liberty (753) was one of many chicks that fledged from this popular canyon, but the first for this particular pair. Oddly enough, this nest site was commandeered away from the pair who had used it since 2008 after the male of that pair, Condor 194, mysteriously disappeared. Apparently, this nest site was attractive to more pairs of Condors than had first met the eye.
Liberty (753) took to the skies with no problems, the issue came a bit later when his transmitter died and he went "stealth". Liberty (753) eluded us for lengthy periods. As a result, as the only way to track him was to actually physically see him. Unfortunately, this meant that when he disappeared, we had no way to recover his body to try and discover what happened to him.
