Wild 1 (231) was a very feisty, dominant female. When she showed up, all the other condors would part before her. She first paired with The Great One (199), and they were the first pair in Big Sur to lay a fertile egg and raise the chick, Phoenix (477), in the wild. Wild 1 (231) and The Great One (199) separated after a few years, and she re-paired with big bad Shadow (209). After a few years of not producing a chick, this pair too broke up. Wild 1 (231) then paired with the studly Puff Daddy (219)!
