Condor (1174) was hatched in a redwood nest cavity in Big Sur, CA, to parents Redwood Queen (190) and Phoenix (477). This nest was so well hidden that it was challenging to spot Condor (1174) when it was a chick. From observations made by our biologists, this bird seems to be quite shy and nervous. Condor (1174) can be seen on the explore.org Big Sur Sanctuary Cam with her parents and a fellow untagged chick, Condor (1180).
