Condor (1095) hatched in a redwood tree with an ocean view to mom, Pinnacles National Park Condor (550), and dad, Ferdinand (652). Condor (1095) was very well fed and had a large crop every time biologists went to do nest observations, giving the chick the nickname “Jabba” amongst biologists for their resemblance to the beloved character from Star Wars. Jabba (1095) made his way over to Pinnacles National Park in September of 2022 and was trapped by park biologists. Now Jabba (1095) sports a temporary blue ID tag that will be replaced with a permanent tag the next time this condor is trapped by biologists.
