Ben grew up in Monterey spending his childhood exploring nature in Big Sur and Monterey county, hiking, kayaking and camping. He is an educator going with experience teaching, first, third, fourth/fifth grades and high school in public, alternative, charter and International Baccalaureate settings in Seaside, Salinas, Castroville and Watsonville. Currently teaching 6th grade in Pacific Grove. Before teaching in the classroom, Ben was an Instructor at the Monterey Bay Aquarium working with their middle and high school students, building their science, conservation, professional and leadership skills and developing their community programs. He is passionate about outside the box thinking, outdoor education and education reform.
When Ben is not teaching he is taking his small family outside to watch sunsets, go to the beach, go hiking and camping. He spends his other free time volunteering in the community, and serving on a local board and a local commission.
