See below for opportunities to join us as we bring the outside in with Virtual Ventana!
Our programs are a joyful exploration of the amazing, natural world around us. They typically include turning over rocks, peering down into ponds or up into redwoods, hiking, exploring and more.
Since Covid-19 became a part of our daily existence, every aspect of our lives has had to be re-envisioned. For those of us whose job it is to connect our community to nature, we have struggled with the idea of bringing our programs indoors, and onto a screen. However, the safest option under the current conditions is to go virtual, so virtual we go - come with us as we bring nature Outside In!
Our approach is to keep our online interaction relatively short, and follow up with fun, educational activities that are completed offline. We know not everyone has equal access to safe outdoor spaces and so we include activities that can be done inside as well.
(virtual) Spring Youth Programs:
Virtual weekly nature classes (ages 5-8 and 8-12)
One-hour weekly classes, January 4th - April 16th
Monday 9AM-10AM (ages 5-8)
Tuesday 9AM-10AM (ages 8-12)
Virtual weekly classes focus on connecting to nature through increasing awareness. Core routines of the program include opening/closing discussions, story-telling, using journals, sit-spots, and wildlife observation. The program provides meaningful recurring experiences and gets students excited about logging off and heading outside. Follow up activities are provided at the end of each week to help do just that! Sign up for all ten classes, or individual dates.
