Ventana Ventana Wildlife is offering up to 16 ONE-WEEK VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP opportunities in beautiful Big Sur, California for those interested in learning more about a wildlife management and research career. Selected candidates will assist with a California Condor restoration program and selected avian research and education projects. This internship is an excellent opportunity to work directly with professional biologists and naturalists, gain exposure to endangered species management, learn a variety of avian research techniques, and explore the central California coast in five fun-filled days.

Interns will:
• Have the rare opportunity for a close encounter with California Condors,
a critically endangered species with the largest wingspan of any north american land bird.
• Track condors through the use of radio telemetry.
• Collect condor movement and behavior data.
• Place supplemental food for the condors, in remote locations.
• Possibly monitor condor nests.

No experience is necessary, but candidates should:
• Be 18 years or older.
• Have an interest in birds.
• Enjoy being outdoors.
• Be physically fit.

Internships will be filled giving preference to local college students pursuing a career in avian or wildlife ecology, with a focus on education and/or research. Selected interns are responsible for their own food and transportation to Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur. A campsite is provided.
