Natural Science Discovery Camp
(Ages 8-12) Request a scholarship
Summer Camp Program Dates 2011
VWS has provided week-long day camps, with one over-night camp out each summer since 1992. The camp is for 8-12 year olds, with certain weeks open to the public each summer (some scholarships are available). Other weeks are reserved for our community partners to attend free of charge. These weeks provide opportunity for youth who would typically not have the chance to go to a summer camp. Our seasonal instructors and full-time education coordinator work hard to make each week safe, educational and memorable. All staff is certified in CPR and First Aid, and those driving youth in our passenger vans must first obtain a California class B commercial driver’s license – which entails passing DMV written exams and driving / skill tests.
NEW FOR 2011: Outdoor Leadership Training
(Ages 13-17)
Over the years we have received requests for Counselor In Training programs and other opportunities for teenagers. Well now there are three options! Teens can choose from Condor Wilderness Camp, Single Day Adventures and Outdoor Leadership Training (OLT). OLT is a chance for older campers to continue to fun of our Natural Science Discovery Camp while picking up skills in leadership and outdoor pursuits. Teens assist staff, mentor younger campers, and sneak away from the group for more challenging activities such as team building. At the end of the week OLT campers receive a certificate of completion. OLT is only offered during specific camp weeks – please see brochure for dates.
