Sample Presentations

"California condors: Back From the Brink of Extinction"

Our Wildlife Biologists supervise the daily tasks involved in the reintroduction and management of these magnificent, endangered birds.  The talk begins with the history of the California condor and covers the efforts taken over the past 25 years to bring this iconic species back from the brink of extinction. Up to date news and status on the wild flock, and personal knowledge about and experiences with the birds are shared in each presentation.

"Monitoring Birds in Monterey County"
Join us for a talk describing Ventana Wildlife Society's bird monitoring
throughout Monterey County, from Big Sur to the Carmel River to the Salinas
Valley.  Learn all about the birds in your own backyard, and how biologists
study them.  We will highlight some of the colorful, exciting, and rare
birds that are found right here in Monterey County.

"Chickadees and Friends: Fall Migration Mixed-species Foraging Flocks"
Chestnut-backed Chickadees are a flocking species, and in fall their flocks
are joined by a wide variety of long-distance migrants.  We will talk the
research and monitoring done by VWS's bird banding lab on fall
migration, Chestnut-backed Chickadees, and mixed-species foraging flocks.
Learn about the phenomenon of flocking and the different species that are
commonly found in these mixed-species flocks.
