  Band Encounter Location Map

Since 1992 the Big Sur Ornithology Lab has captured and banded over 50,000 individual birds and has accumulated over 23,000 recapture records. Over this time, 32 individuals have been recaptured or recovered at different locations from where they were originally captured and banded. This map illustrates the individual travels of these birds, ranging from the nearby Carmel River to as far north as Alaska and as far south as Mexico.
