6th Annual Monarch Butterfly Count Training Saturday, November 3, 2007 8:30 AM – 12 PM Where: The Monarch Grove Sanctuary, Pacific Grove, CA. Conducted by: Jessica Griffiths (Ventana Wildlife Society) Objective: You are invited to participate in a monarch butterfly monitoring workshop. The goal of the workshop is to continue collaboration among monarch butterfly enthusiasts and biologists for conducting long-term monitoring efforts in California. Participants will be trained in standardized monarch butterfly population estimation techniques. Fee: A donation of $5/person is suggested. Coffee and tea will be provided. RSVP: Please RSVP Jessica Griffiths at (831) 624-1202. Bring: Because this workshop is outdoors, please dress warmly and in layers. We also suggest bringing raingear in case it rains. **Don’t forget a donation, binoculars, pen and notebook, and enthusiasm! Directions from the north: The Sanctuary is located in Pacific Grove, CA on Ridge Road, one block west of the intersection of Lighthouse Avenue and 17 Mile Drive. Parking is available at the entrance. From the North, take CA-1 S, exit HWY 68 W towards Pacific Grove. HWY 68 becomes Forest Ave. Turn left on Lighthouse Ave, a 6-way stop in downtown Pacific Grove. Turn left on Ridge Road, just after 17 Mile Drive. Entrance is just past the hotel on the right with parking opposite. |
